Ymir is a cool place to ski.
Filmed mostly by Julia.
Music entirely by alt-j.
To start off, I totally did not spend 28 hours on this over the course of two days.
I started writing down ships that I wanted to make a video for, and once I started on it, it just kept getting bigger. There are still ships that I wrote down but didn't do, mostly because I edited most of the manga shots in the video myself, which takes quite a bit of time, so I limited manga-specific characters to two (which happen to be my favorites, because I give preferential treatment.)
And I will say it first, Nanami x Akura-ou is problematic as fuck after 107, and I don't support it in the context of Ch 107 at all. But before 107, I and a lot of fans liked the dynamic, even though it's now very conflicted. I did not make this video to romanticize events during or after 107, only to set up the dynamic that existed before that.
Some ships are cannon, some are crack. Some videos are sad, some are funny. One video I admit is awful (KotaHime deserves better than 30 minutes of editing after two mixed drinks)
Here's a handy little guide to find the individual clips as well as the song for that clip:
0:04 — Tomoe x Nanami, Dangerous by Before You Go
0:54 — Kurama x Ami, Hey Mama by Mat Kearney (it's ridiculously easy to make Kurama say "Hey Mama")
1:51 — Tomoe x Yukiji, Summer Begs by Sarah Jaffe
2:12 — Tomoe x Mikage, Yellow Light by Of Monsters and Men
2:34 — Mizuki x Nanami, Volcano by Damien Rice
3:40 — Akura-ou x Nanami, She Is The Sunlight by Trading Yesterday
5:32 — Kei x Ami, Catch Me by Demi Lovato
6:17 — Nanami x Ami, The Listening by THE LIGHTS (little story in the fake subtitles)
7:11 — Otohiko x Mikage, Sexy Can I? by Ray J
7:49 — Akura-ou x Tomoe, How to Be a Heartbreaker by Marina and the Diamonds
8:36 — Akura-ou x Kayako, Hands Clean by Alanis Morissette
9:30 — Tomoe x Mizuki, Stolen Dance by Milky Chance
10:35 — Kotaru x Numano Himemiko, Rapture by Iio
11:23 — Kurama x Tomoe, Calm Before the Storm by Fall Out Boy
12:50 — Kayako x Nanami, Arrow by Tegan and Sara
Some honorable mentions that almost made it into this video, or will make it into a part two: Nanami x Jirou, Kurama x Mizuki, Mizuki x Yonomori, Kurama x Nanami, Mizuki x Unari, Kurama x Jirou (there's a fanfic for it, so it's legit.)
Reference to Ymir x Christa from Attack on Titan, because that's probably why I even thought of doing Kei x Ami.
I was honestly going to not do the Kurama x Tomoe video, but there's like 3 fanfics of it. I think that makes it the top ship second only to Nanami x Tomoe (using Archive of Our Own and Fanfiction.net for the numbers, I'm pretty sure I'm right.)
Video made for Masayoshi Fujita & Jan Jelinek. Track: "Cin", from latest "Schaum" album (2016)
