Emaar Properties' flagship development, the 500-acre Downtown Dubai, has become the stage for over 30 installations, celebrating the collaboration of art and light in one dynamic destination until March 29, 2014.
The inaugural 'Dubai Festival of Lights, ' held in collaboration with the City of Lyon's Festival of Lights (Fête des Lumières de Lyon), boasts environment-friendly LED lighting, from video mapping, and lighted sculptures, to interactive pieces, covering the alleyways and public spaces of 'The Centre of Now.'
Let the little Prince of Light pull you along on a fantastic journey in quest of a stolen treasure. Along the winding roads of far-far-away lands, you will see him appear — first as a tiny dot, then as a giant among the stars.
This is LED lighting and video mapping at its best — Souk Al Bahar façade is the canvas for this amazing installation.
The five-day event held until March 3, the Emirates Classic Car Festival featured over 300 classic cars and motorcycles, the largest showcase to date, a significant in participation compared to 2013. The cars on display ranged from 1928 to 1984, from Corvette Sting Rays to Bentleys and Rolls Royce.
A highlight of the Festival was a Pre-World War II Mercedes, with a super-charged engine, from 1923; and the first car ever made under the Mercedes Patent Wagon, 1982.
Winners of the 6th Emirates Classic Car Festival were evaluated on the basis of upkeep, value, originality, uniqueness, finishes, and visual aesthetics.
Emaar marked the culmination of the 6th Emirates Classic Car Festival, with a spectacular awards ceremony.

Now in the league of the most popular global New Year's celebrations and eagerly awaited by an international audience, the New Year's Celebrations 2012 in Downtown Dubai is organised with the support of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Police, Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, the Centre of Ambulance Services, Dubai Health Authority (DHA), and Dubai Media Incorporated and Dubai Events & Promotions Establishment (DEPE).
The excitement will reach a feverish pitch on December 31, with the distinctive fireworks extravaganza in Downtown Dubai. While the 828 metres (2, 716.5 ft) Burj Khalifa will host a stunning fireworks display — described as the 'world's largest fireworks, ' various venues in Downtown Dubai will also celebrate the arrival of the New Year with fireworks, together creating an unprecedented ambience.
Having already elevated Dubai to the league of the world's most preferred destinations to mark the end of the year; the New Year's Celebrations are open for the public. They can revel in the celebrations from Burj Park, an island overlooking Burj Khalifa, set on Burj Lake. Visitors can also enjoy the celebrations from the Waterfront Promenade lining the adjacent Dubai Mall, Burj Plaza, the 3.5km Emaar Boulevard, The Pavilion in Downtown Dubai, and other areas in Downtown Dubai, in addition to a drive-in designated location in Al Meydan area. Dubai Media Incorporated will also broadcast celebrations live on Dubai TV, Dubai One, and Dubai FM.
Dubai ushers in 2015 with world’s most-watched New Year’s Eve spectacle by Emaar and a Guinness World Records title. The ‘Largest LED-Illuminated Façade’ around Burj Khalifa was the centre of all glitz as it regaled the teeming spectators with one of the world’s brightest visual displays to date. Over 4.7 tonnes of fireworks were used for the fireworks display with 25, 000 shots lighting up the sky!

New Year's Eve 2011, the place to be in is Dubai, as the city's 'Global Icon, ' Burj Khalifa — the world's tallest building by Emaar Properties — rings in 2011 with an unprecedented spectacular that will elevate the city to the league of the world's most sought-after destinations for New Year's Eve celebrations.
In the proud tradition of the gala celebrations marked around iconic structures such as the Sydney Opera House, Paris Eiffel Tower and at New York Times Square, Dubai is welcoming the world with the Burj Khalifa New Year's Eve Gala.
Also marking the first anniversary of Burj Khalifa, which soars high at 828 metres (2, 716.5 ft), the New Year's Eve Gala has a mystique theme that encompasses the entire Downtown Dubai community, the 500-acre mega development by Emaar, described as 'The Centre of Now.'
At the heart of the flourishing lifestyle community is Burj Khalifa, which will usher in the New Year with a colourful countdown followed by a laser-fireworks-lights spectacle. Flagging off the celebrations is a fire-water performance of The Dubai Fountain, the world's tallest performing fountain overlooking Burj Khalifa.
The Dubai Fountain will sway to the rhythm of world music, with fire flames and water jets in harmonious flutter, creating a spellbinding effect on viewers. As the countdown for the New Year begins, the Downtown Dubai community will be enveloped with lights and lasers effects.
Large television panels will display the countdown, and the New Year will be ushered in with a dazzling fireworks-laser-lights display atop Burj Khalifa — marking it as the world's highest fireworks celebration for the New Year.
Music, specially composed for the event, will add to the surreal ambience, offering spectators a never-before-experienced New Year's Eve gala. The celebration will continue for another hour with The Dubai Fountain performing continuously to a range of world and Arabic music.
The entrance of The Palace Downtown Dubai is transformed using video projection and sound. Watch the arch light up in dozens of torches, as the wind blows and tries to put them out.
