“As a music producer and engineer, I’ve spent decades in recording studio mixing on analog gear, and I've brought all those mixing techniques over into the digital world. I hope you can learn a few things here about thinking a little differently about mixing, as we all have our own unique approach" -Arty Skye

10:43 3 Dimensional Reverb - Mixing Essentials

3 Dimensional Reverb - Mixing Essentials

Get more tutorials like this at www.adsrsounds.com

If you’ve ever felt like adding reverb to a sound like a synth lead, pluck or even a vocal made your isolated sound better, but hurt your overall mix, try this tip and trick.

This is also a great way to add 3 dimensional depth to your reverb FX.

Instead of leaving your reverb in the center on a stereo track like vocals or a synth lead, create to AUX sends and pan one to the left and the other to the right.

Put TWO different reverb plugins, one on each AUX send to create a really rich and spacial effect. The key is to use different reverb types for each AUX send.

About UAD Capitol Chambers Reverb Plugin:

Located below the iconic Capitol Tower in Los Angeles, Capitol Studios is arguably the most recognized studio in the world — and much of its legend can be traced to its hallowed, subterranean echo chambers. From Ray Charles to Frank Sinatra, Beck to Muse, these underground spaces continue to provide gorgeous hi-fi ambience that is simply unmatched.

Now, after years of R&D and close collaboration with Capitol Studios — including unprecedented access to four legendary echo chambers 30-feet beneath the studio — Universal Audio proudly presents the Capitol Chambers plug-in, a startling end-to-end recreation of the most popular echo chambers ever created, exclusively for UAD hardware and UA Audio Interfaces.
— Record and mix with the world's only authentic plug-in emulation of Capitol Studios' prized underground echo chambers
— Add the unmistakably dense, natural reverberation to vocals or drums — far beyond plate, digital, or simple convolution reverb
— Create new sounds by repositioning Capitol Chambers' microphones using UA's Dynamic Room Modeling
— Audition current and historical chamber configurations, plus new setups curated by Capitol's Steve Genewick
— Harness the chamber's entire signal chain including amplifiers, speakers, custom preamps, and mics
— Quickly pull up presets from legendary Grammy-winning engineers Al Schmitt (Ray Charles, Steely Dan), Darrell Thorp (Beck, Radiohead), Frank Filipetti (Madonna, Paul McCartney) and more

9:31 72-EDO algorithmic IDM in Pure Data

72-EDO algorithmic IDM in Pure Data

72-EDO scale network (like my 53-EDO video; I'm omitting the visualization for this one). All PD with no plugins or samples.

The reverb algorithm is based on the Lexicon 224 concert hall algorithm. Details are here: http://www.convexoptimization.com/wikimization/index.php/Dattorro_Convex_Optimization_of_a_Reverberator I used this as a starting point and added a number of modifications. I have more elaborate reverb algorithms, but use this one often as its CPU usage is pretty low.

Syntonovo Pan prototype FIRST LOOK: Gearslutz @ Superbooth19

Felix Visser and Bert Vermeulen showed the latest prototype of the new, amazing Syntonovo Pan monosynth. The pan has no less than eight analogue VCOs and an expressive XYZ keyboard, invented and developed by themselves.
Please note: this is a first look, at a busy tradefloor and there's a bit of distortion in the sound at around 4 minutes 40 seconds in, this is not the synth itself.

3:35 Demo :: Lexicon PCM70 Reverbs on SH101 (Aphex Riff)

Demo :: Lexicon PCM70 Reverbs on SH101 (Aphex Riff)

Demo of Lexicon PCM70 using Roland SH101 synth playing Aphex Twin riff from 'Tha' (Selected Ambient Works 85-92). 6 presets demo'ed: — TILED ROOM — LONG HALL — SMALL PLATE — INFINITE REVERB — CHORUS — SOLON VERB

Chose these presets because they worked well with the riff used and provide a variety of short / med / long reverbs. Threw in the Chorus as well.

SOLON VERB is one of my own presets — the rest are all factory presets.

SH101was recorded through Tube Tech MP2A preamp and Antelope Audio Eclipse converter into Ableton.

Don't know why Final Cut Pro kept garbling the text... kind of fits the Aphex vibe though so left it in.

About SOLON:

Matt Singmin is an English musician based in Sydney, Australia, composing and producing meditative electronic music. He is the DJ & Co-founder of The Future Sound of Yoga, and an explorer of the magic in vintage & modern audio gear.
