A simple, two-chord, multi-tracked demo of the soon-to-be-released Prophet-6 synthesizer. All sounds were recorded directly into Pro Tools with no EQ or processing. Reverbs and delays are all Prophet-6.

Here's another sampling. Thanks to the wonderful folks at DSI, I got to spend some time with the new Prophet 6, coming out June 2015. Here's some polyphonic sounds I made. That's Robby the Robot, on a P12, but you're hearing 100% Prophet 6, recorded direct, played live or using the built-in sequencer/arpeggiator. I wanted to share my take on what the Prophet 6 can do.
Here's another demo of mine involving monophonic sounds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Pesq_jTwrw

A fellow muso, James Fox Higgins recorded a keys and drums jam and asked me to throw a solo over it, and I'd just arrived home with my new (Korg) Arp Odyssey, so thought it would be just the ticket. First take/listen — enjoy!

When the team at Dave Smith Instruments called us to take a look at their new synth, we had no idea that the words “Sequential” and “Prophet” were going to be proudly displayed. One note later through the Meyer Sound rig at the DSI Office and we knew that there was no doubt that the Prophet 6 was the most genuine and true successor to the Prophet 5.
The Prophet 5 has a very important place in our gear arsenal. It’s heavily featured on our EP “Occupations” and is one of the few synths we have that simply doesn’t need much post processing. It takes to multitracking effortlessly and exudes pure analog “aliveness”. Not to mention the fact that it doesn’t take much to get it into the moody and dark John Carpenter film score sound. In short, the Prophet 6 had a lot to live up to. Fortunately, it does so in spades, going beyond what the Prophet 5 could do both in sound and programmability.
From the Prophet 5 rev 2 style SSM filter (it’s a discrete take on this design) to the brand new, discrete voltage controlled oscillators, the new high pass filter, dual fx engine, and output distortion, the Prophet 6 builds upon everything good from the 5 and then goes much, much further. Coupled with a fully polyphonic step sequencer and standard issue arpeggiator, the Prophet 6 is the perfect, discretely analog, polyphonic synthesizer. And it’s as much at home on a stage as it is in the studio.
The sounds that you hear are from the factory bank patches we’ve submitted to Dave Smith Instruments/Sequential. We intentionally focused on more standard, instantly usable sounds, rather than ones that showcase some fancy programming trickery. Reason being is that the Prophet 6 is all about immense raw sound quality and immediate, tactile programmability. Everything you are hearing was performed using the onboard facilities of the Prophet 6. There are absolutely no external FX or sequencers used. If you hear a reverb or a delay, it’s coming from the built in dual FX engine on the 6. We simply recorded the stereo output via a Precision 8 mic pre amp into Pro Tools HD, normalized the clips and bounced the track.

Today we're exploring some of the exciting modulation routing possibilities of the Prophet 6, and their applications in LFO pitch modulation using a modern patch.
The patch in the intro sequence is 100% unprocessed.

I played the Korg Sigma with reverb effects from a Yamaha SPX900 and delay effects from an old Korg SDD-3000. In the second half of the video I triggered the Sigma from a Korg Rhythm 55 (KR-55).
The Korg Sigma (KP-30) is a preset monophonic analog synth with aftertouch. You can combine all presets and wave forms. There are 2 lines of tabs which can be seen as 2 VCOs. Joystick with highpass & lowpass filters. Ring modulator, noise generator, CV and gate inputs — great features on this exotic synth. Combine 'till it sounds good — that's the way to go on the Korg Sigma.

At last i have some time to spend into the prophet 08.I have created some presets and i must say im in love with this instrument. It´s capable of much more of what i thought at a first moment. But beyond modulation possibilities, what i like is that is a really expressive synth.
Of course i must say im new in the synth world. and im enjoying a lot learning and creating some of the sounds that represent my musical sensibility. Sure with more knowledge more finesse will come. But for now, im more than satisfy.
Thank you to Dave instruments for this fantastic synth.

I really love Sequential Circuits. When I heard that Dave Smith was going to come out with a completely new polyphonic synth, I had to have it. I got inspired to create an original song only using the Sequential Prophet 6 and the Sequential Circuits Drumtraks.
