Street food in Lima, Peru! #Lima #Peru #PeruvianFood #streetfood
Peruvian food is one of the world’s great cuisines, and I was thrilled to have a chance to visit Peru to learn about and taste the food. In this video, get ready for an ultimate 14-hour straight Peruvian street food tour of Lima!
Here’s everything included in this food tour:
La Parada Market — If you love vegetable markets, I don’t think anywhere else in Lima is as colorful, energetic, and vibrant. This is the beating heart of Lima’s food supply, and I fully enjoyed walking around and seeing the diversity of ingredients from around Peru all in one busy wholesale Market.
Caldo Cesar — Elias navigated us to Caldo Cesar, a restaurant that was incredibly packed and specializes in some of Lima’s best caldo de gallina — chicken hen soup. It was one of the best chicken soups I’ve ever had in my life. Total Price — 52 PEN ($15.71) for 4
Ceviche Cart — One of the national dishes and most beloved dishes of Peru is ceviche (raw fish in lime juice), and we walked over to the section of the market where they sell fish and seasonings for ceviche and had a plate of fresh Peruvian ceviche. It was delicious. Price — 8 PEN ($2.42)
Fruit Tasting — This was pretty unplanned, we just walked around the fruit market and tasted about a dozen types of fruit. My favorite fruits were the Sanky — Fruit produced by a cactus, Camu camu — Native to the Amazon rainforest, and Lucuma — Gold of the Incas.
Papa rellena — This is one of the most common of all Peru street foods, a papa rellena, or a Peruvian stuffed potato. I was impressed — one of the best fried potatoes maybe I’ve ever had in my life.
Tocosh — This fermented potato pulp, was invented by the Incas, and it’s not for the faint of heart. I thought it was unique and pretty delicious, and fun to eat, and it contains natural penicillin.
Papa con huevo — This was ok, but just basic, a potato with egg on top and doused in sauces. This is again, a classic part of Peruvian street food, especially enjoyed by children.
Sanguchería El Chinito — “I practically moved to Peru just for this sandwich.” — Timour Ghoneim. That says it all about this legendary chicharrón Peruvian sandwich located at Plaza de Armas. And he was right, you would move to Lima for this sandwich.
Don Tito Pollos a la Brasa — If you ask Peruvians what is one of their comfort foods, I’m guessing pollo a la brasa would be a common answer. Pollo a la brasa is Pervuian rotisserie chicken, but somehow they just do it better in Peru. Total Price — 84 PEN ($25.39)
Anticuchos Manuela — Without a doubt, this was one of my favorite parts of this entire Peru street food tour of Lima, anticuchos, or grilled cow hearts. They are truly majestic, so juicy and flavorful, you won’t believe it. Price — 10 PEN ($3.02)
Picarones — Finally to end this ultimate street food in Peru tour of Lima, we ordered some picarones, donuts made from sweet potato and pumpkin. They are addictively delicious and should be eaten when you’re in Lima. Price — 6 PEN ($1.81) per box

I met up with 5 Mexican Guys (https://goo.gl/ankJN3, and they just started their channel since I met them, so go check them out!) to go on an ultimate Mexican street food tour of Mexico City. It was one of the greatest food days I had in Mexico, and we tasted so many incredible dishes.
La Esquina del Chilaquil — For breakfast in La Condesa, there’s no better place to check out than La Esquina del Chilaquil, their tortas are delicious.
Price — 40 MXN ($2.14) each
Mercado de San Juan — I wanted to quickly check out this market, but it wasn’t all that busy when we went — there wasn’t too much going on. So we had a quick scorpion and then continued on to the ultimate street food market.
Scorpion — 160 MXN ($8.54) for 4
Mercado de La Merced — Mexico City is packed with street food, but if you want a food experience that’s busy, in your face, and always exciting and delicious, Mercado de la Merced is one of the greatest places to start. You’ll encounter massive amounts of street food that will blow your mind with how delicious they are. Here are the things we ate at the market:
Quesadilla — 57 MXN ($3.04) for 3
Fries tacos — 20 MXN ($1.07) each
Pancita — 40 MXN ($2.14) per bowl
Pambazo
Mamey — 15 MXN ($0.80)
Mango — 15 MXN ($0.80)
Churrería El Moro — This wasn’t street food, but we needed a little afternoon break, and there’s no better spot in Mexico City for churros than Churrería El Moro.
Total price — 439 MXN ($23.44) for all
Esquites — 20 MXN ($1.07) — After walking around El Zocalo — the center of Mexico City, we then had a corn snack os esquites where they add corn, mayo, cheese, and chili salsas to a cup. It’s pretty tasty.
Loncheria La Rambla — Next we tried a Mexican style turkey sandwich — it was alright, but not the best food of the day.
Torta de pavo — 35 MXN ($1.87) each
Taquería Los Cocuyos — And finally to end this Mexico City street food tour with 5 Mexican Guys, we headed to Taquería Los Cocuyos, a legendary taco stall in the heart of the center of the city. The tacos are amazing, and it was the perfect was to end this day of incredible Mexican food.
Tacos de cabeza — 17 MXN ($0.91) each

BELO HORIZONTE, Minas Gerais, Brazil — Many of the most well known chefs and cooks in Brazil are from Minas Gerais state, and they are known throughout Brazil for their food. In this Brazilian food tour of Belo Horizonte, we ate some seriously meaty dishes, and spicy chili peppers.
Mercado Central de Belo Horizonte — To begin we started at the central market, a beautiful and very clean and organised market where you can get all the produce and artisanal foods of Minas Gerais. The chili peppers in particular stood out to me, of all different kinds and we couldn’t help but buy a bhut jolokia (ghost chili).
Rei Do Torresmo — King of Crackling — We continued on to Rei Do Torresmo for some serious pork cracklings and fried pork belly followed by liver sauteed with onions and scarlet eggplant — this was my favorite dish of breakfast. The owner also poured us a glass of cachaça — sugarcane spirit which is famous throughout Brazil, but possibly most famous in Minas Gerais. Total price — 40 BRL ($10.10)
Pão de queijo — Another Brazilian food you have to eat in Belo Horizonte is cheese bread, and this one filled with turkey as well — it was cheese on cheese, a cheese lovers dream. Price — 11 BRL ($2.78)
Nonô — O Rei do Caldo de Mocotó — Another dish to eat in Belo Horizonte is Mocotó, a cow hoof stew of soup that’s basically melted liquid meat. It was rich and hearty and so meaty and delicious. I especially loved their spiked hot sauce. Price — 10 BRL ($2.53)
Café Palhares — One of the legendary restaurant cafes in Belo Horizonte is Cafe Palhares, and you must order their KAOL — an acronym for cachaça, rice, eggs, sausage. It’s a one plate meal deal and represents the food of Belo Horizonte. Price — 18.80 BRL ($4.75) per plate
Mirante do Mangabeiras — In the afternoon to take a food rest, we took a drive up the side of the mountain for an amazing view of the city.
Bar Do Careca — For dinner on this Brazilian food tour of Belo Horizonte, we went to Bar Do Careca an actual bar, but more of a restaurant than a bar. Along with a few other local Minas Gerais dishes, we tried feijão tropeiro, possibly the national dish of the area. Watching it being made was spectacular, and it was just as good as it looked. Total price — 156 BRL ($39.41)
Belo Horizonte and the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, is a fantastic city in Brazil that’s passionate about food.

BOROUGH MARKET, LONDON STREET FOOD, BIG GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH, INTERNATIONAL STREET FOOD, Borough Market is a wholesale and retail food market in Southwark, London, England. It is one of the largest and oldest food markets in London. The present-day market mainly sells speciality foods to the general public. However, in the 20th century, it was essentially a wholesale market, selling produce in quantity to greengrocers. It was the main supplier, along with Covent Garden, of fruits and vegetables to retail greengrocers' shops. Amongst the notable businesses trading in the market were Vitacress, Lee Brothers (potato merchants whose signage can still be seen in the market), Manny Sugarman and AW Bourne. JO Sims, the main importer for South African citrus fruit (Outspan), were also located in the market.
Vegetable stall
Stallholders come to trade at the market from different parts of the UK, and traditional European products are also imported and sold. Amongst the produce on sale are fresh fruit and vegetables, cheese, meat, game, baked bread and pastries.
The market is a charitable trust administered by a board of volunteer trustees, who have to live in the area.[9]
Borough Market and the surrounding streets have been used as a film location for such features as Bridget Jones's Diary (2001), Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004).[10] As reported by the London Evening Standard, the market is available to hire for private events. The present market, located on Southwark Street and Borough High Street just south of Southwark Cathedral on the southern end of London Bridge, is a successor to one that originally adjoined the end of London Bridge. It was first mentioned in 1276, although the market itself claims to have existed since 1014 "and probably much earlier"[3] and was subsequently moved south of St Margaret's church on the High Street.[4] The City of London received a royal charter from Edward VI in 1550 to control all markets in Southwark (see Guildable Manor), which was confirmed by Charles II in 1671. However, the market caused such traffic congestion that, in 1754, it was abolished by an Act of Parliament.[5][6]
The Act allowed for the local parishioners to set up another market on a new site, and in 1756, it began again on a 4.5-acre (18, 000 m²) site in Rochester Yard.[5][6] During the 19th century, it became one of London's most important food markets due to its strategic position near the riverside wharves of the Pool of London.[5]
The retail market operates on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The wholesale market operates on all weekday mornings from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m.

Samrub For Thai: https://www.facebook.com/samrubforthai/ #ThaiFood #Bangkok #Thailand
What I love so much about eating at Samrub For Thai (สำรับสำหรับไทย), is that it’s a Thai food learning experience. I learn so much about ingredients, combinations, history, and taste. I believe Chef Prin is one of the most talented chefs of Thai food.
The private dining room of the extremely talented Chef Prin, known better as Samrub For Thai (สำรับสำหรับไทย) is for me one of the best Thai restaurants in the world. Having a foundation of Thai food, it’s just incredible to see how Chef Prin takes Thai cuisine to the next level, but actually brings back ancient Thai foods that have been buried and lost.
The menu at Samrub For Thai (สำรับสำหรับไทย) constantly changes, typically every month. And what’s incredible is that many of the ancient Thai recipes listed ingredients, but not amounts. And so it’s up to the cook to determine the balance and taste — and you need to have a seriously good tongue and knowledge of Thai food to determine the best ratios of ingredients.
Here’s the list of Thai dishes we ate during this meal:
Miang som (เมี่ยงส้ม), marian plum
Oysters snack (ขนมหอยนางรม)
Beef salad, tree basil (พล่าเนื้อสด)
Sour pomfret soup (ต้มส้มปลาเต๋าเต้ยน้ำส้มโหนด)
Crab coconut cream relish (หลนเจ่าปูม้า)
Roasted duck, langsat fruit, salad (ยำเป็ดย่างลองกอง)
Shrimp curry, young mangosteen (แกงตู้มี่)
Beef with holy basil (เนื้อผัดใบกะเพรา)
Sticky rice ice cream, mango, golden beans (ไอศรีมข้าวมะม่วงกับถั่วทอด)
It was an outstanding meal, almost unbelievable flavors, quality of ingredients, and just an amazingly fun time to hang out with friends and eat best Thai food.

Thank you very much to 23andMe for sponsoring this video. Learning about my ancestry and discovering some of my taste preferences, and comparing them with my Dad, was fascinating. He and I both had a great time meeting and eating. We happen to be traveling in Ghana, and my Dad happened to be in Nairobi, Kenya for a few days having some meetings, so I thought it would be a perfect opportunity, to meet my Dad. Luckily it all worked out smoothly!
Accra, Ghana
Waakye — 8 GHC ($1.80) — Waakye is a popular Ghanaian food / meal, and that’s what we started the day with. You get rice and beans, a number of other starches, and some tomato sauce stew and meats, all piled high into a leaf bowl. It was delicious!
Makola Market — Next we visited Makola Market, the largest and most energetic market in Accra. It’s a must visit, to see the energy and life at the market.
The Accra Arts Center — Finally, we stopped off at the Accra Arts Center to buy a few things before leaving in at night.
Accra to Nairobi — We had a late night flight, and we landed early at sunrise to cool Nairobi!
After checking into a hotel just for 1 night, we took a quick hour nap, and then jumped into a taxi to go meet my Dad who was staying at a guesthouse.
It was great to see my Dad and at the guesthouse we compared our ancestry and our taste preference.
Then we went to go eat some Kenyan food, which was a highlight. Now do you know where I got my love for food from?
Java House coffee — Finally, as you already know, I have a tendency to enjoy caffeine, and so does my Dad. So it was only right to stop for a cup of coffee to finish.
Thank you for watching, and again, a big thank you to https://www.23andme.com/markwiens for sponsoring this video.
