We've been shooting with the GoPro Karma for a couple weeks and so far we're stoked with the results! Here is a quick tutorial showing how you can use Auto Shot Paths to get the goods quickly and easily!

Review and tutorial on the new 2017 GoPro Karma Drone. This is on the re-released version that "hopefully" no longer falls out of the sky. I haven't had any issues like in the first release of the drone, no battery connectivity issues. It has also been brought to my attention that I neglected to mention the video quality of the GoPro Hero 5 Black Edition. I think the video looks excellent although may be a little unsaturated. The image sensor in the Hero 5 is the same that’s in the Hero 4 Black so if you have had the camera you should know what to expect. Enjoy!

Your First Flight with GoPro Karma Quadcopter - Best Buy

Watch this video to learn how to create a preflight checklist, calibrate your GoPro Karma Quadcopter with HERO6, and learn how to operate your controller. Before your first flight, you'll want to make sure you're prepared with a pre-flight checklist. Go over everything on the list at your flight location so you can be sure that the drone is safe and ready. Here's what should be on your list. Make sure everything is charged, and double check the battery levels to be sure. Tighten each prop to make sure it is secure. Unpack the drone, and fully extend the landing gear and prop arms. Place Karma on flat, firm ground in an open area and point the camera away from you. Check that your camera stabilizer is locked into place. Make sure you are using a class 10 microSD card, with plenty of available space. And make sure you are getting ready to fly in an open area free of obstacles. If everything is in place, power up. Power on the Karma controller first, then the drone. It takes a few minutes to warm up, but don't move until the light around the start/stop button turns a solid green. That's when you know it's ready to fly. The touchscreen will also go from grayscale to full white, and the Aero-graphic will scroll. The drone lights indicate the front and back of the drone. Green is the front, and red is the back. And now it's ready to fly. One of the great things about Karma is that the controller and the drone come already paired to each other. The compass and the accelerometer are automatically calibrated, so there's no need to do it, unless the controller prompts you to. Sometimes recalibration is necessary, and if it is, there are step-by-step instructions on the controller that tell you exactly what to do. If you come to this point and all systems are go, then it's time to take off. Push and hold the start/stop button for three seconds to start the motors. Make sure the common controller is pointed at the drone at all times to maintain connection. For an automatic takeoff, just tap the Auto Take-off button on the touchscreen display and Karma will lift into the air. To take off manually, simply push forward on the left joystick. Now go slow until you get the hang of it. Practice flying and taking some video. Just make sure to keep an eye on the battery life. The Karma controller also offers Auto Shot Paths to help you with moves that are difficult to complete manually. These are more precise than even the best pilots can get with manual control. Simply pick the shot you want, follow the on-screen instructions, and let it fly. When you're ready to land, the easiest way to get the drone on the ground is Auto-Land. But before you press Land on the touchscreen, make sure the drone isn't under anything, because during this process it will climb to 66 feet, and then land itself wherever you tell it to. Once you press the Land button, you'll see three landing options: land where you started, or Home; land where you are currently standing; or land where the drone is hovering right now. If you want the drone to land exactly where it is, you'll need to either do it manually or press and hold down the land button. While Karma is landing, you can use the joysticks to steer it around any objects. Once it's in the right spot, the drone will wait ten seconds and then land itself. After touchdown, just hold the start/stop button and Karma will power down. If you want to land the Karma drone manually, use the joysticks to guide Karma towards a safe landing area. When you reach the landing area, gently pull the left joystick back until Karma reaches the ground. Don't stop pulling back until the propeller stops spinning. Press and hold the Power button until the light turns off. To prevent damage to the drone, Karma has several built-in safety landings. If the battery gets too low, the drone will automatically return to the launch location. If the battery reaches a critical level, the controller will notify you and the drone will begin landing in place. If the Karma controller loses connection with the drone, then the drone will hover in place while the controller tries to re-establish connection. I that doesn't work, the drone will automatically return to its launch location. Okay, now that you have a feel for flying your GoPro Karma Quadcopter Drone with HERO6, you're ready to head out, but remember to be careful stay alert and fly safe. The most insane DJI Phantom 2 fly away, crazy, out of control!
My nightmare flight with my DJI Phantom 2 and GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition. I realize now that the calibration i did right before takeoff must have been done nearby something very powerful that really messed up my system. I have never experienced such horrific behavior from my Phantom 2 ever before...! I am so happy no one were harmed by this crazy flying lunitic :-)
This happened in Stokmarknes, Vesterålen, in north of Norway.
