Boat Builders working on the banks of the Irrawaddy (Ayeyarwady) River, as it flows through Myitkyina, in the north of Myanmar, where boats are an important means of transport.
The Irrawaddy River flows from north to south through Myanmar. It is the country's largest river and most important commercial waterway. Originating from the confluence of the N'mai and Mali rivers, it flows relatively straight North-South before emptying through the Irrawaddy Delta into the Andaman Sea.

Wanted to make a cedar strip canoe so gave it a whirl. 13' solo canoe. Turned out ok but I did make a few mistakes. I think it will suffice for my first canoe. And for those who don't like the music, push the mute button. Thanks for watching.

UNESCO: List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding — 2010
URL: http://www.unesco.org/culture/ich/USL/00321
Description: Takes note that China has nominated the watertight-bulkhead technology of Chinese junks for inscription on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding, described as follows:
Developed in South China's Fujian Province, the watertight-bulkhead technology of Chinese junks permits the construction of ocean-going vessels with watertight compartments. If one or two cabins are accidentally damaged in the course of navigation, seawater will not flood the other cabins and the vessel will remain afloat. The junks are made mainly of camphor, pine and fir timber, and assembled through use of traditional carpenters' tools. They are built by applying the key technologies of rabbet-jointing planks together and caulking the seams between the planks with ramie, lime and tung oil. The construction is directed by a master craftsman who oversees a large number of craftsmen, working in close coordination. Local communities participate by holding solemn ceremonies to pray for peace and safety during construction and before the launch of the completed vessel. The experience and working methods of watertight-bulkhead technology are transmitted orally from master to apprentices. However, the need for Chinese junks has decreased sharply as wooden vessels are replaced by steel-hulled ships, and today only three masters can claim full command of this technology. Associated building costs have also increased owing to a shortage in raw materials. As a result, transmission of this heritage is decreasing and transmitters are forced to seek alternative employment.

KADAL TV Well, Today I went up a remote creek In the middle of No-Where trying to spot some eels... The only thing was, I forgot my fishing rod!?!?! So after spotting an absolute GIANT, I raced back to my house and grabbed my Fishing rod. We've always dreamed of owning a large sailboat and calling it our home... Is this going to be that boat? Is there too much work to be done? You tell us... because we still haven't decided.
This boat we check out is an Irwin 52' — a very luxurious sailing yacht in it's heyday, and some still are kept in amazing condition. One of these boats in good shape typically sells for $200, 000 to $300, 000, so the question is... is it worth buying this gutted boat for $25, 000?

Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20's, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we're in our 30's. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. For this reason our channel is very DIY focused, with the goal to show anyone watching that a lot is possible if you're not afraid to make some mistakes along the way.

😱Hey, schaut umbedingt mal in meinem Shop vorbei: https://fritzmeinecke.shop
I built this wood roof hut in the forest using only primitive tools and materials. It should be pointed out that I do not live in the wild and that this is just a hobby. It should be obvious to most that this is not a survival shelter but an experiment in primitive building technology.

Inle Lake is a very special lake in Myanmar. The lake is known for its villages built on stilts, the floating market, the floating gardens, and the leg rowers. Our film shows it all. We visited Inle Lake in November 2012 (see our travelogue with a lot of pictures and clips at: www.travelbyphoto.nl ).
Around and on the Inle lake lives the Intha minority, often in villages with houses built on piles. The village best known is Ywama, built in the lake, with wooden houses on stilts and canals as streets. Parts of the village are connected with wooden bridges. There is a floating market, visited by people who arrive by boat from around the area to do some shopping.
The Intha have a very special way of rowing: the leg rowing. The rower stands on the boat stand, and rows with the oar between a hand and a leg.
