What is sequential read speed?
Sequential read is a disk access pattern whereby large contiguous blocks of data are read from adjacent locations on the surface of a device. The term is used primarily within the context of benchmarking and the speed is usually measured in MBps. This type of access pattern is common when reading large files such as video, music and images. As a rule of thumb approximately 50% of a typical users disk access on a PC will consist of sequential reads and writes. Drives that are used primarily for large multimedia files or backups should have relatively high sequential read speeds. When manufacturers quote speeds for devices such as flash drives, hard drives and SSD's, unless specified otherwise, they are referring to the sequential speed. Other types of read speed include random 4k and deep queue depth.
What is Samsung Magician RAPID Mode?
RAPID mode is a RAM caching feature. Samsung’s RAPID white paper states that RAPID works by analyzing “system traffic and leverages spare system resources (DRAM and CPU) to deliver read acceleration through intelligent caching of hot data and write optimization through tight coordination with the SSD.”
Basically, it takes hot files and frequently accessed files such as a Microsoft Outlook email database or commonly used parts of files and stores them into the system RAM for future requests. And on top of that, it optimizes writes to the SSD for the fastest performance. Pretty sweet, eh?
There is a catch, however, and that is that there will always be a risk of data loss when caching files in the RAM. To minimize this risk, Samsung created RAPID to strictly adhere to the Window’s flush commands. This results in a data loss risk that is identical to that of Windows OS cache or HDD cache. Furthermore, it uses up to 25% of system RAM and RAPID 2.0 increased the maximum limit up to 4GB, well above that of RAPIDs first release. Because it was designed to only make use of excess system resources though, it will scale back resource usage and turn back to a pass-through mode if the system is working on higher priority tasks.

For today I will be showing you that I am installing an SSD into my 15 inch Late 2011 MacBook Pro! When I got this computer all the way back in June. I had high hopes for maxing out this laptop. And I am SO GLAD that I finally have achieved that. It was actually one of my goals I made to accomplish before the year ends. I just want to thank all of you for still sticking with my channel for the past few weeks as well. I am WELL AWARE that my content has gone stagnant and dry lately. And that an upload is really rare. I promise, I will make a good comeback. I've just been focusing on other things in my life. Things besides Youtube. I haven't even bought any iDevices for Christs sake! Thank you all for 3, 000 subscribers. I'm not sure if I should do a 3, 000 sub video, but thanks either way. It literally makes my day when I just get some random comment from someone saying they love my content. Whether it be a regular viewer... Or someone brand new to the channel. Only one hard drive bay? No M.2 or mSATA slot? You can still have both an SSD and hard drive together in your laptop. All it takes is to ditch that DVD drive, and getting an inexpensive "caddy" adapter* and a small screw driver.

I just discovered (8 months ago) that the optical drive bay's SATA connector is limited to SATA II so peak sequential speed is limited to ~250 MBps. Real world performance isn't affected and shoudn't be a big issue but may be an issue in rare scenarios (like Samsung's Magician software RAM caching if enabled).
So an alternate method:
1) Take the hard drive (HDD) out of your laptop. This varies from laptop to laptop so you may need to look it up. But most should have a door dedicated for the hard disk.
2) Take that HDD and place that into the caddy.
3) Place the SSD where the HDD was.
To know what caddy to get: — Simply take out your DVD drive and measure its thickness (in millimeters) using a ruler.

Remember to clone C: and other system partitions first to the SSD before deleting it from the HDD.
Also yes, Windows go to the (fast) SSD while your (bigger) HDD acts as mass storage. Some people for some reason didn't get that even if the guide specifically does that.
