The 6 series, as a followup to TCL's P series from 2017, was a strategic decision for the company. TCL told Digital Trends in an interview that, rather than produce a 65-inch variant of the original P-series, TCL opted to begin work on the new 6-series, making improvements on the already well-received P-series design, and launching in both 55-inch and 65-inch screen sizes. If TCL holds true to form, the pricing on these TVs won't just be competitive, they will shake up the 4K HDR TV landscape.

A chinesa TCL já ostenta a posição de terceira maior fabricante de televisores do mundo. No Brasil, a marca chegou em 2016 em parceria com a Semp, mais conhecida pela longa história com a Toshiba. CES always has new TVs to show off from the biggest companies, including LG, Samsung, and Sony. But which TVs were the best? There were 5 that really stood out to me this year, and a couple of them are only concepts so you can't even buy them yet! OLED was again a big thing, but Samsung did come up with something called Micro-LED that could be a game changer.

The TCL 6 Series is a very good 4k TV for a wide range of different usages. In this review, we compare it to 4 other popular models.

The 6 Series is a budget TV which performs well in both dark and bright rooms. It has a high native contrast ratio and decent local dimming, enabling it to produce deep and detailed dark scenes. It also has great peak brightness for producing bright HDR highlights or overcoming glare in a bright room. It is impressive for gaming due to the low input lag and good motion handling, with the addition of a black frame insertion feature to clear up fast motion.
Model tested: 55” (55R617)
Should also be valid for the other 55” (55R615) and 65" (65R615, 65R617) models. Note that the R615 variants including a different remote.
