BUILD: Dust Separator

This is an easy-to-build dust separator with a baffle. It works because the incoming air is forced around the outside wall, where the heavier dust and chips fall into the large trash can below. When driven with a blower like I use, the baffle removes the need for a standalone dust collection system (which not everyone has the money, space, or power to accommodate). When used with a shop-vac, this simple dust collector will greatly prolong the life of your filters and prevent the constant need to empty the vacuum bin, which is typically small and difficult to remove.

I recently bought a new miter saw (Bosch Axial Glide) and have been a little disappointed with the dust collection that it had. It was still vastly superior to the stock dust collection I've experienced on other saws, but I guess I was just hoping for more. I decided to perform an experiment and compare 3 common solutions to the problem followed up with my own custom designed dust shroud. In this video you get to see just how effective each solution is at capturing dust as well as whether or not my creation is any better. It's a fun little experiment that has some surprising results!

Werkstattsauger haben oft das Problem dass sich der Filter schnell zusetzt und das Fassungsvermögen sehr klein ist. Um diese Probleme zu lösen habe ich meinem Nass- Trockensauger einen neuen Behälter gebaut. In diesen integriert ist ein Zyklonabscheider bzw. Fliehkraftabscheider. Der Sammelbehälter selbst besteht aus einem Blechfass mit 60l Fassungsvermögen.
